Spring Player Evaluation Notice

Given that SMHA and NCHA are icing one AAA, if you are unsuccessful at making a AAA team, players will return to their home association to continue with AA evaluations. If a player is released from AA tryouts, SMHA will provide releases at that time for players to tryout for another AA team. If a player is unsuccessful at securing a AA spot, they are to return to their home association for A tryouts. A copy of the release letter along with the player name, date of birth, the association and the team you wish to tryout for should be emailed to jason.innis@sudburyminorhockey.ca .

Please note, OHF playing regulations require players to have three evaluation skates prior to being released.

Annual General Meeting

Sudbury Minor Hockey Association’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 7:00PM EST. Will be held at the galley at Countryside Arena.

Please note that at the Annual General Meeting, it is the membership’s role to vote in the number of Directors needed to complete the 12 Voting Positions. Specific Positions (i.e. President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer) are not voted on at the AGM. Positions are the responsibility of the new Board at the first Board meeting following the AGM.

Board of Directors Nomination Forms must be received no later than Tuesday, May 2, 2023 by 6:00 pm EST.

Proposed amendments to the SMHA Constitution must be received by the Secretary of the Association in writing no less than thirty (30) days before the Annual General Meeting. Proposals must be received by April 17th, 2023 by 11:59pm EST.

U10 and U11 prep skates will be as shown on the calendar below.

Please note that the U18AAA skates are interest skates. Tryouts will be had later.

SMHA will be starting tryout skates during the week of April 24th. At this time, we are inviting interested players to register for tryouts in order to help us allocate appropriate ice time. By completing this form, you are indicating your interest in trying out as a player for SMHA during the 2023-24 season. Should your family have multiple players, please fill out 1 form per player.

All tryout ice times will be at a cost of $25.00 per player, and these fees will be collected by the team conducting the tryout. Any proceeds after ice cost, will be passed along to the team itself. Cash only at the arena door.

ALL U14 aged players will need to take part in checking clinics in order to prepare for body contact in the upcoming season. These will be held in the fall before the start of the season.

Specific times, dates, and locations of tryouts will be shared on the website and Facebook page in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to the U13 Thunderbirds on a successful season. The thunderbirds won the Bradford Blue and Gold tournament, SMHA house league classic, and the Valley East Renegades tournament.
